Festivals Ethiopia has a number of festivals through the year, starting with the spring, "Tseday", the time of the Ethiopian New Year, which falls in "Maskaram 1" or September 11. This is also the beginning of the harvest season, which is a time of parties and weddings. The most popular of the country's festivals are Enkutatash-Ethiopian new year's day, Maskal - the Festival of the Finding of The True Cross , Gena-Ethiopian Christmas ( January 7) , Timket-Ethiopian Epiphany, Faseka-Ethiopian Easter, Kulubi Gabriel, Gishen Mariam, Sheik Hussein, Sof Omar , Axum Tsion, Id Al Adha, Id Al Fetir and Maulid.
